Granular sulphur is different from the nitrogen/phosphate/potassium fertilizers above. It primarily supplies elemental sulphur (S). Plants require sulphur for protein and enzyme formation, but elemental sulphur must generally be oxidized by soil microorganisms into sulphate before plants can readily absorb it.
